Yvain and Gawain

Inspired by Chrétien de Troyes' Yvain, the Knight of the Lion, Yvain and Gawain explores the moment in which Yvain must fight against his best friend to defend a maiden in a dispute with her sister. The catch: they do not recognize each other.

Take part in this passionate, dramatic scene and experience the moment alongside the two knights as they fight for their honor and, in a way, each other.

Turn-Based Chivalry

This turn-based RPG uses boasts as its buff/debuff system, bringing the themes of masculinity and chivalry into the system as well as the story. In addition to the boasts, death is also a unique mechanic designed to capture the energy and anger that often drives knights in Arthurian romances.

The way to play

A web build is included here for ease of play but for the full experience, check out the Windows and Mac builds! The desktop builds feature additional effects on the background to make the game a little more visually cohesive that aren't supported by web builds, so be sure to check those out as well!

Install instructions

Windows:

Download the "Yvain and Gawain_Windows.zip" file
Locate the file wherever you downloaded it
Right-click the file and select "Extract All", then choose where to extract the files to
Run "Yvain.exe"

Mac:

Download the "Yvain and Gawain_Mac.zip" file
Find where you downloaded the file and double-click it to extract it
Run the application
If a pop-up tells you that it cannot run the program because it is from an unknown developer, open your Settings
Go to Security and Privacy
Click the "Open Anyway" button at the bottom of the window
